We are here for the students in Kristiansand and Grimstad!

Students are an important part of our community and our future. It's up to us to ensure that more of them thrive even better and choose to stay in the region when they graduate.

What is Project Student Wellbeing?

Studenttrivsel is a 3-year project that will work on exactly this. It is a collaboration between Kristiansand municipality, Grimstad municipality, the University of Agder (UiA), Studentsamskipnaden i Agder, Agder county council and the student democracies.

The project also includes the business community, the municipalities' student committees, colleges and vocational schools in Agder. Together, we will propose, test and implement activities for student well-being in the host municipalities of Grimstad and Kristiansand.

From June 2023 to May 2026, we are focusing on three areas of work: Well-being and belonging to the local community, connection to regional working life and information for students. For us, the most important thing is that the activities we initiate contribute to our students feeling a sense of belonging. At the same time, we learn from collaboration all the way. Idea bank

Exchange of ideas

The idea bank below is a collection of quotes from students who have shared their thoughts, input and ideas on how student life can be improved.

Bridge construction

We hope the ideas can create a bridge between the students and various actors in business, educational institutions, voluntary organizations and public enterprises.

Realization

We encourage actors who want to strengthen students' well-being to "steal" the ideas, reflect on them - and work towards realization.

"I wish there were more English-speaking events where I could meet and get to know Norwegian students, to learn more about Norway and Norwegian culture."

Tony

International master student

"I wish companies worked more closely with our line associations. It would have been a good way to get a foot in the door of working life, and made it easier for us to build networks and experience."

Niklas

Career-minded student

"Student finances are tight and as a result I can't always participate in the arenas that exist, but better student prices and more free offers make it possible to participate in what's happening in the study city."

Jo

Student who wants to take part in the city

"I miss more active leisure activities such as hiking, climbing, disc golf, padel and yoga. It would also be exciting to have separate hiking groups for students or young adults in Kristiansand."

Quinn

Active and social student

"I've heard that the housing market in Kristiansand is better than in many other cities, but I know very little about how to get into it. If I had known more, I could have planned my future better."

Adrian

Student in Kristiansand

"I think public transport for students should be more affordable. We are encouraged to use public transport to be environmentally conscious, and then it must be a price the student economy can withstand."

Ulrike

Taking courses in both study cities

"I would have greatly appreciated more breakfast events for students where you can get to know professionally relevant actors from working life, the study administration and other students."

Mohammed

Looking for networks during your studies

"Student sports feel that they are far down on the priority list, and are allocated poor court and hall time. It would have been nice to have training times that fit in better with everyday student life."

Sofie

Active member in student sports

"I miss more reading rooms and quiet zones, both on campus and in the city. It would make it easier for me to find good places to concentrate on my studies."

Thea

In search of good places to study

"I wish there were more academic events such as debates, courses and film screenings relevant to my studies. I'd also like to see other things that involve the whole faculty, so that we can meet students from other programs and exchange ideas."
