/ Becomes new project manager for student well-being

Olea Norset is the latest addition to Business Region Kristiansand. She has been brought in as the new project manager for the joint initiative "Student well-being".

Student well-being is a new 3-year collaborative project between Kristiansand municipality, Grimstad municipality, the University of Agder (UiA), Studentsamskipnaden i Agder, Agder county council and others.

"Our goal is for students in Kristiansand and Grimstad to thrive even better. It is important for us that they feel a sense of belonging to the region during their studies, and of course we want more students to choose to settle here when they graduate," says Geir Haugum, Head of Industry in Kristiansand.

A commitment to university cities

Norset comes from Ørland and moved south in the fall of 2017 to take a Bachelor's degree in Community Planning and Communication at UiA. Since then, she has been actively involved in the university towns of Kristiansand and Grimstad, the student community and the development of Agder's attractiveness to newcomers.

She comes from a stint at the Student Organization in Agder (STA), where she has been both deputy leader and leader. With a varied background in social planning, creative subjects, interest politics and volunteering, she is now ready to step into her new leadership role.

"Being able to come in with a new perspective and contribute to development across such key players in the region is a privilege. In addition, I get to meet and work with incredibly talented people who all want to make an effort for our students. It will be an exciting journey over the next three years, and I welcome all curious stakeholders with their thoughts and ideas for student-Agder," concludes Norset.

Among other things, she will be a driving force in proposing, testing and implementing activities related to the start of studies, volunteering, student internships and the Karrieresprang pilot for relevant summer jobs in Southern Norway.
