Challenging to get an overview
Large parts of the business community are facing a very demanding situation due to Covid-19 and the government's measures to reduce the risk of infection. Various packages of measures are being implemented both nationally and regionally to improve the situation for businesses.
- It can be challenging to get an overview of all the national measures and find the best solution for your own company. In good dialog with the business association and together with the tourism cluster USUS, Entreprenørforeningen Bygg og anlegg (EBA), the offshore technology cluster GCE NODE, the process industry cluster NCE EYDE and Kvadraturforeningen, Business Region Kristiansand wants to assist companies in a simple and straightforward way in this situation. Therefore, we have established a telephone service, says Geir Haugum, head of Business Region Kristiansand.
Selecting the sector
- The caller can choose the industry or cluster the company belongs to so that we can provide the most relevant help possible. The inquiries are automatically directed based on this choice to Business Region Kristiansand or one of the partners, says Haugum, who finds it difficult to say anything about what he thinks most inquiries are about.
- It is now possible to apply for the compensation scheme. The regulations were published on Friday evening, and the digital application process on kompensasjonsordning.no is said to be simple. In any case, we are ready to help and will do our best to provide companies with information about the various measures. At the same time, we must point out that technical accounting and legal questions should be taken with accounting offices and lawyers or consulting companies, says Haugum.

Compensation for loss of turnover
Businesses can now apply for compensation from the state for loss of turnover due to the corona situation and restrictions imposed in connection with the virus outbreak.
The scheme is intended to compensate for a period of time for part of the unavoidable fixed costs of businesses that are severely affected by the infection control measures, either because they have been forced to close or because they have experienced market failure. The purpose of the measure is to compensate for loss of income and thus help reduce the risk of bankruptcies.
The scheme is administered by the Norwegian Tax Administration and applications must be made using a simple digital application form. The Norwegian Tax Administration's information page on the compensation scheme can be found here.
