Kristiansand is ready to welcome you

Jointbatteryinitiative should choose Kristiansand as the host city for its battery initiative.
We are the environmentally friendly and safe choice.

Southern Norway and Kristiansand are built on industrial development, shipping and trade. Water power, sea routes and visionary industrial entrepreneurs such as Sam Eyde are the cornerstones of the economic and industrial development that Sørlandet and Kristiansand have experienced over the last 100 years. History clearly shows that the city and the region have a long tradition
in warmly welcoming industry and business.

This has given results. Today we are home to a vibrant process industry that is constantly able to develop, and a world-leading supplier industry for the offshore sector. Research on battery technology is a new and important focus area. The central position of Southern Norway's industry and our willingness to facilitate industrial and business development is emphasized by the fact that we currently house two nationally and globally leading industrial clusters; NCE Eyde and GCE NODE.

In this industrial environment, you will find yourselves well accommodated.
We have available an industrial plot with plenty of space, close to a secure power source, cooling water and good infrastructure.

Access to expertise
Access to expertise and skilled professionals is something the industry is completely dependent on to assert itself. Both vocational education, vocational schools and a young university are adaptable and facilitate the development of the skills that industry needs. The region has done this before, most recently with the development of mechatronics education, with students at bachelor, master and doctoral level.

Short distances
Short distances to the labor market, suppliers and customers will be important for you. Kristiansand is the city closest to the continent. We are the traffic hub of Southern Norway, with an international airport and the region's largest port.
There are several freight lines to foreign countries. People, raw materials and products have short travel distances and the journey can be made in many alternative ways. Two-thirds of Agder's population is within 60 minutes' driving distance.

Sustainable
Sustainability is an important part of Kristiansand's goals. In the municipal plan's community part, it has been decided that Kristiansand will be a low-emission society in 2030. We will facilitate circular solutions, responsible consumption and production, and achieve more with less use of resources. Electric Region Agder is the region's major sustainability initiative. Our goal is to become the country's first all-electric region by 2030.

It is also worth mentioning that Sørlandet and Kristiansand provide the best framework for living a good and safe life. All in all, it should be easy to see how well you will fit in with us. If you read on, you will find out more about why you should choose Kristiansand.
