/ South by Southwest
Business Region Kristiansand and Agder County Council have for a number of years sent a delegation to South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. SXSW is a festival for music, film and interactive media.
The interactive part focuses on new technologies and trends in digital communication. Established businesses, start-ups and funding agencies have the opportunity to participate in exciting conferences, workshops, expo and social events together with over 400 000 other participants. This provides a unique opportunity to network both internationally and regionally. Previous themes that have been the focus of the festival: Health/welfare technology, AI, block chain, coding/programming, brands & marketing, tech and design, and tomorrow's workplaces.
For the 2020 delegation, places were planned for up to 5 entrepreneurial companies from Agder. Among other things, the entrepreneurs receive a tailor-made pre-departure program, assistance with registration for the international pitch competition during SXSW and reduced costs. 10 places were reserved for private sector companies from Southern Norway. In addition, 10 places were set aside for participants from the public sector.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the trip did not take place in 2020 or 2021.
