/ Toad project

Padda was the name of an empty float boat that was towed on the Herefossfjord. Birkenes Historielag is working to have it exhibited in a new building a stone's throw from the fjord it used to navigate.

The "Toad", which once hauled timber down the Herefossfjord, is now landlocked at Løland, Birkenes. Torstein Vehusheia of Trollvegg Arkitektstudio in Kristiansand designed the house for the "Toad". Torstein is the grandson of "Padda's" last "skipper", Ole Vehusheia. Pictures and information about "Toad" and the Tovdalsvassdraget, will also be part of the content.

If all goes according to plan, the Toad will be exhibited at the rest area at Søre-Herefoss along RV41.

The committee working to realize the plans at Søre-Herefoss is Kristen K. Rosåsen (chairman), Kjell Eirik Stoveland, Arne Løland and Olav Vehusheia. Birkenes Historielag is the project owner. In addition, Arild Tveide, Business Region Kristiansand/Birkenes municipality is assisting.
