/ Tailor-made courses for retail, hospitality and tourism businesses

The theme is sustainability and the aim is to implement profitable sustainability measures and become Eco-Lighthouse certified.

With support from Business Region Kristiansand, the Eco-Lighthouse Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce, Kvadraturforeningen and USUS have joined forces to offer tailor-made course packages for retail, hospitality and tourism businesses.

Each company is invited to four two-hour sessions with inspiring and useful presentations. Topics covered include the working environment, non-conformity management, purchasing procedures, waste, transportation and climate and environmental reporting. The sessions are spiced up with good relevant examples from related businesses.

Businesses belonging to Kristiansand municipality get a reduced price for the course.

- Sustainability is an increasingly important competitive advantage, as both the market and the authorities demand evidence of climate and environmental performance. Even the Corona virus has not put an end to the demand for environmentally friendly companies. In the first half of 2020, we have seen 16% growth in Eco-Lighthouse companies compared to the same period in the record year 2019. This shows that the business community is using the transition phase we are in to prepare for the new normal - sustainable business," emphasizes Linn Grøtberg, Marketing Manager at the Eco-Lighthouse.

The aim of the project is to increase competitiveness in the region and ensure further development of important industries for Kristiansand. The courses start in January and end in March/April 2021, thus making the companies ready for Eco-Lighthouse certification in the spring.

- We know that our members are keen to become more sustainable and want to be given tools to become greener. Many companies have customers who require suppliers to demonstrate that they produce within a sustainable business model, forcing companies to become more sustainable. These courses will provide some concrete tips and tools to help companies, you will hear examples from businesses elsewhere in the country, and they are focused on the target groups: hospitality, trade and tourism, says Trond Backer, CEO of the Confederation of Norwegian Business Enterprises.
