The aim of the competition is to lay the foundation for future growth companies and jobs in the region, regardless of industry. The deadline for applications is 17.10.2021. You can find the application form here.
The competition is for entrepreneurs and innovation environments in Agder that have business ideas in the development/pre-commercial phase with commercial potential.
Why participate?
The partners of the Sustainable Business Idea Competition provide prizes and support to the winner to increase their chances of realization and success. In addition to pitch training and showcasing during the event, all finalists will be offered
- Office space for up to one year in Kristiansand, Arendal or Mandal
- Mentoring scheme from Innovation Norway*
- Advice for further business development
- Tickets for the Techpoint conference 2022
*Assumes that the winner is within the applicable requirements for the mentoring scheme, including that the company is less than three years old and not a personal enterprise.
Criteria for participation
- Participants must have a business idea that involves a solution (product, process or service) that supports the achievement of one or more sustainability goals.
- The company must be registered in Brønnøysund before the application is submitted and have a registered business address in Agder. There is no requirement for a company form.
- The business idea should be in the development/pre-commercial phase with commercial potential.
- The company has not yet sold products, solutions or prototypes on commercial terms/achieved significant revenues.
Implementation
After the application deadline, a jury with representatives from business, academia and public funding agencies will assess all applications and select at least three applicants who will present their idea in front of a final jury consisting of representatives from business and public funding agencies. The final event will be held at Hotel Norge in Kristiansand on Thursday, November 4 at 18.00-20.00. Everyone who reaches the final will receive professional guidance and training in presenting their presentation. The training is mandatory and the first guidance is joint, Friday, October 22. Then there will be individual training spread over two days, totaling approx. 4 hours. There will be some audience present at the final event.
The competition supports the focus on value creation and sustainability in Agder
The Agder Regional Plan 2030 states that Agder should have a strong entrepreneurial culture with good conditions for high-growth entrepreneurial businesses, and that more arenas for idea and product development should be established. Furthermore, work on entrepreneurship and innovation related to more climate-friendly and sustainable business development and the circular economy should be strengthened. The Sustainable Business Idea Competition has been held annually since 2016, with the exception of 2019.
