/ Young international urban planners to work on New Kristiansand

September 24-28, young planners from all over the world will gather in Søgne, Songdalen and Kristiansand. 60 master students from NMBU at Ås, and 20 planners from China, India, Hong Kong, Turkey, Abu Dhabi, Romania, Nigeria, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, USA, England, Zambia and Tunisia are coming to "Cool planning New Kristiansand".

18 planners from 14 countries

18 planners from 14 countries are coming to contribute with input on how new Kristiansand can be developed with three city centers, Tangvall, Nodeland and Kvadraturen. ISOCARP, the International Society Of City And Regional Planners, is holding its Young Planning Professionals' workshop in the new Kristiansand in week 39. This is the first time ISOCARP is organizing a workshop in Norway.

The task of the planners is to provide input for a sustainable development of the new municipality, and synergy opportunities around the three urban centers. The planners will investigate how a polycentric city with three urban centers at Tangvall, Nodeland and Kvadraturen can be developed.

Welcome to the Urban Lounge and lunchtime talks

- We invite residents in Tangvall, Nodeland and Kvadraturen to open events and breakfast talks," says project manager Christina Rasmussen.

- Tuesday to Friday there is an Urban Lounge at the Theater in the evenings. On Wednesday, September 26, there will also be an Urban Lounge in the library at Tangvall and in the gymnasium at the municipal building in Nodeland. Here we hope many will come to meet students and international guests, and participate in the "international coffee talk". There will be music, program and a nice informal meeting place from 19.00.

On Friday, September 28, the workshop will end in the Theater with an exhibition and a greeting from Camilla B. Dunsæd, councilor in the new Kristiansand from 2020, says Rasmussen.

- Cool planning is the title of the workshop that is part of a subsequent ISOCARP World Congress in Bodø.
